Welcome to First-Grade!

My name is Ms. Rivera, and I'm going to be your First-Grade teacher! I'm thrilled to have you in my classroom, and I can't wait to get to know every single one of you! I just graduated from Sam Houston State University; therefore, this is my first year teaching. I'm a big believer in differentiated instruction, where instruction is specialized to fit the needs of every child. I know everyone learns differently. Therefore, my teaching show is done differently as well. I will provide many methods for students to complete assignments or express their ideas. Together, anything is possible.

A little about me

I was born in Los Angeles, California. I moved to Texas in the 3rd-grade, and it's been my home ever since. I love football, soccer, and basketball (go Golden State Warriors!) I struggled a lot in school and faced many challenges. However, with the help of amazing teachers and supportive parents, I overcame those hurdles and graduated high school with honors. I never gave up then, and I won't give up now. I believe our past does not determine our future. Every student has the same potential for success; I’m just here to assist them on the right path.

My goal is to create a positive learning environment for every child. I want students to love learning and wake up excited to come to class. Our classroom is a safe haven for everyone. Since the first day of school, we are a family. We help, care, and motivate one another. Additionally, learning is best done as a TEAM; therefore, we will work together and create meaningful connections. Lastly, creating a relationship with my students is extremely important. Teachers are told to be the biggest multitasker; they are friends, guides, a shoulder to cry on, a learner, a motivator, and a facilitator of knowledge. I will always be there for your child and be a positive force for them to learn and grow.
